Earlier this year AT&T confirmed that they will begin rolling out their 5G network later in the year. However the carrier, at the time of announcement, failed to mention which cities would be the first to receive 5G coverage, but now we know as AT&T has confirmed that 5G coverage will initially roll out to parts of Dallas, Atlanta, and Waco.

As expected AT&T will start rolling out coverage as time goes on, and the carrier claims that this roll out will continue in early 2019 and beyond. They also stated that they plan to announce more cities that will be covered in the coming months, so for those not living in the initial coverage zones, hopefully your cities will be among some of the earlier ones.

As we have seen in the case of LTE coverage several years ago, it will probably take carriers some time to eventually cover the entire nation, or at least as much as possible, so the only thing we can do is remain patient. However it should be noted that as it stands, there aren’t many phones that support 5G connectivity, which means that even if coverage is rolled out, not many devices will be able to truly take advantage of it, so it’s not so bad even if your area isn’t covered by the initial roll out.

AT&T is not alone in their 5G plans as other carriers such as Verizon also have 5G plans, along with Sprint who is planning nationwide 5G coverage by mid-2019, while T-Mobile is aiming nationwide coverage by 2020.
