AMD has announced the launch of two new Ryzen processors for desktops that are a bit different from the other desktop chips we’ve seen from the company recently. They have built-in Radeon Vega graphics as they combine AMD’s CPU and GPU architectures into a single chip. The AMD Ryzen 5 2400G and Ryzen 3 22G processors are now available, they combine four of the latest Zen CPU cores from AMD with the company’s advanced Radeon Vega graphics architecture on a single chip. The Ryzen 3 2200G only costs $99.

The idea to fuse both the CPU and GPU architecture into a single chip is not new. AMD has already teamed up with Intel on this last year when they announced Intel’s Core i5 and i7 processors being mated with AMD’s discrete Radeon graphics. However, the desktop processors with integrated graphics that AMD has launched today are meant for entry-level models while Intel’s chips were meant for high-end notebooks.

AMD claims that the Ryzen 5 2400G delivers the same graphics performance in a single processor as an Intel Core i5-8400 does when combined with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 GPU. That combination costs almost $300 while AMD’s new chip is priced at $169.

The company also claims that the Ryzen 5 2400G delivers up to 156 percent more graphics performance than the Intel Core i5-8400 and up to 21 percent more system performance compared to the same processor.

The new AMD Ryzen desktop processors with Radeon Vega graphics are available for purchase globally starting today through online and brick-and-mortar retailers.
