Earlier this year Instagram announced that users would be able to integrate GIFs into Stories in a partnership with GIPHY. However a couple of months later, that integration was removed due to a racist GIF that was spotted in GIPHY’s database. For those wondering when the feature would be returning, you’ll be pleased to learn that it has.

This has been confirmed in a report from TechCrunch in which Instagram has re-enabled GIPHY’s integration. However this is only for Instagram as Snapchat claims that they have nothing to share right now about whether or not they’ll be reactivating the feature. According to Instagram, “We’ve been in close contact with GIPHY throughout this process and we’re confident that they have put measures in place to ensure that Instagram users have a good experience.”

GIPHY also responded with a statement that reads, “To anyone who was affected: we’re sorry. We take full responsibility for this recent event and under no circumstances does GIPHY condone or support this kind of content . . . We have also finished a full investigation into our content moderations systems and processes and have made specific changes to our process to ensure soemthing [sic] like this does not happen again.”

So if you’ve enjoyed using GIPHY’s GIFs in your Instagram Stories, you’ll be pleased to learn that the feature can be used again.
