The BlackBerry KeyOne was released last year which means that assuming that BlackBerry and TCL are on a schedule that plans for annual releases, a successor to the KeyOne is overdue. So far we’ve seen a leaked render of the upcoming handset, but now it looks like live photos of the upcoming handset have since appeared as well.

The photo to the right was posted on the CrackBerry forums (via GSMArena) and it is unclear where it might have originated from. However this live photo of the handset does seem to confirm the previous render. The handset has been given the codename “Athena” and as for its commercial name, last we heard some were speculating that it could be called the KeyTwo.

As for the design, it looks like the Athena will be more or less the same as the KeyOne where it will feature a candybar design with a physical keyboard layout. The previously leaked renders also suggest on-screen buttons, a dual camera setup, and a headphone jack. In terms of security, there is no clear fingerprint sensor unless BlackBerry has installed it on the side of the phone.

In any case the leaks seem to suggest that maybe we could be getting close to an official launch so do check back with us in the near future for more updates.
