OnePlus fans have long referred to the company’s upcoming flagship as the OnePlus 6 even though the company hadn’t started referring to the device as that. However, OnePlus has now officially confirmed that its upcoming flagship will indeed be called the OnePlus 6. As the launch approaches, we can expect the company to gradually reveal more details about the device.

Given the company’s naming convention, it was reasonably expected that the next OnePlus flagship would be called the OnePlus 6. While the company’s co-founder recently confirmed that the device indeed has a notch, even he didn’t refer to it as the OnePlus 6.

That changes today as the company has officially confirmed through a post on its Twitter account, inviting fans to “6et ready!” for the launch of its new device. It has also opened a OnePlus 6 forum on its website which is confirmation enough on its own.

Not much has been revealed other than this so far. OnePlus has already confirmed that the notch, a polarizing subject, is going to be present on the display as the company wants to maximize the screen real estate.

We can expect OnePlus to reveal more nuggets of information about the device in the days to come. Since the OnePlus 5 was launched in June last year, expect a similar launch timeframe for the OnePlus 6 this year.
