Both generations of Google’s Pixel smartphones have been flagship-level devices and the company is yet to launch a mid-range Pixel handset. There have been some rumors which suggest that an affordable Pixel could be launched later this year. However, there’s another report now which claims that Google has started working on a mid-range Pixel smartphone that it’s likely going to launch in the first half of 2019.

Google is already due to launch two Pixel smartphones this year, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. There’s no concrete evidence available at this time to support theories that a mid-range handset will be launched alongside the duo as well later this year.

The latest report claims that Google started working on a new mobile device about a month ago which it’s going to launch in the first half of next year. This device is expected to be the much-rumored mid-range Pixel smartphone. No further details are available about this device right now.

This handset will reportedly be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chip which was announced about a week ago. Qualcomm has developed this chip to bring premium features to mid-range smartphones.

Google hasn’t confirmed or denied any reports about an affordable Pixel smartphone so far and it goes without saying that we’ll continue to hear about this expected handset in the months to come.
