Apple might get rid of an issue that new iPhone owners face this year. The cable that it ships with new iPhones can’t be plugged into a new MacBook Pro without a dongle but if a recent leak is to be believed, Apple is going to address this pain point with its 2018 iPhone USB-C charger.

Images of what may possibly be the new charger that the company ships with its 2018 iPhones have been leaked online. The 18 W USB Type-C charger will enable iPhone users to take advantage of the fast charging functionality without having to purchase any other peripherals. Moreover, they will also be able to connect their handset to a MacBook Pro without any difficulties.

The new 18 W charger design appears to be in an oval shape and heftier compared to the existing 5 W charger. However, it does have the same style of super-ellipse rounded corners that will feel familiar to existing iPhone owners.

It merits mentioning here, though, that the design of the charger in these leaked images isn’t as sleek as the earlier leaked schematics hinted. The labeling on the charger itself is different from Apple’s standard so there’s a possibility that what we see in the images may be a prototype.

Apple will obviously not confirm anything about the charger for its 2018 iPhones before the new handsets are actually released and that’s not going to happen until September at the very least.
