We heard countless rumors over the past couple of years that Apple is working on a full-fledged electric car that will also be able to drive itself. It was later reported that perhaps the project was shut down in favor of developing self-driving technology that could be licensed to other car manufacturers. However, a well-known Apple analyst has now predicted that the company will indeed be making a car which could be launched between 2023 to 2025.

Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted in a note to investors that the Apple Car is going to be launched between 2023 and 2025. The analyst doesn’t say how he has reached this conclusion and doesn’t offer additional information about the car project.

Kuo points out that the car will be what helps Apple reach its $2 trillion valuation. Apple became The first publicly traded company in the United States to attain a market cap of $1 trillion earlier this month after it posted a record June quarter.

Whether or not Apple actually ends up making and selling a car remains to be seen. The car business itself is entirely different from what the company has been doing for much of its history. It’s going to be easier said than done for Apple to not only develop a full-fledged car but to also sell it.

The rumor mill and analysts like Kuo are still convinced that a proper electric and autonomous car remains on Apple’s to-do list, even if it may happen almost a decade down the line.
