If you own a Motorola handset and you’re eager to get your hands on the recently released Android 9.0 Pie update, you might be interested to learn that Motorola has since announced and confirmed which of their handsets will be eligible to receive the update. Motorola did not specify when the update will be released save for this coming fall.

The handsets that are currently eligible include the Moto Z3, Z3 Play, Z2 Force Edition, Z2 Play, the X4, G6 Plus, G6, and the G6 Play. For older devices it seems that those have been left out of the Android 9.0 Pie update for now. It is unclear if Motorola will eventually get around to them, or if this list is more or less definitive, so if you don’t see your handset on the list, maybe don’t get your hopes up just yet.

According to Motorola’s blog, “The more you use your phone, the better the experience gets over time. From the new Intuitive Navigation and Recent App, an improved Do Not Disturb mode, and a colorful settings menu, to anticipated longer battery life, revamped split-screen and more, Android P gives you that piece of pie you’ve been longing for.”

So far the update has found its way onto Google’s Pixel handsets, as well as the Essential Phone which was the first non-Pixel to be updated. Since then many manufacturers have come forward to announce their own plans for the update as well.
