MoviePass is a popular theater subscription service that has been struggling to stay afloat recently. It ran out of money entirely late last month which led to service disruptions for subscribers. The company has since taken a few steps to ensure its survival which included an increase of the subscription price from $9.95 per month to $14.95 per month. That wasn’t really appreciated by subscribers so the company is making amends now.

MoviePass has rolled back some of the changes that it announced last week. These include surge pricing and the price increase to $14.95. It does come with a catch, though.

Subscribers could previously see a movie once a day as long as they were paying the monthly fee but that won’t be possible. MoviePass will begin limiting subscribers to three movies a month from August 15th. It will offer an up to $5 discount for additional movie tickets. It previously offered this option for $7.95 but it will now be part of the $9.95 per month plan.

The company is confident that this change is not going to have an impact on “over 85 percent” of its subscribers since 15 percent of MoviePass members see four or more movies in a given month. Starting August 15th, monthly subscribers will get the opportunity to subscribe to the new plan when their existing plan comes up for renewal. Those on the annual plan will not be affected by this change until their renewal dates.
