With commercial 5G networks set to go live in the United States next year, carriers and smartphone manufacturers are now gearing up to launch devices which will be able to leverage the next-generation mobile network. Sprint and LG have announced their intention to bring the “1st 5G smartphone in the U.S.” They’re aiming to do that in the first half of next year.

Sprint says that it’s going to work with LG to offer the first mobile 5G smartphone in the United States in the first half of 2019. Its customers will be “among the first in the world” to experience the enhanced mobile data speeds that the 5G network will offer. It’s going to be an “innovative handset” built for Sprint’s 5G network.

No further information about this LG smartphone has been revealed at this point in time. Sprint says that the specifications of this device and its exact release date will be confirmed later.

Sprint is planning to launch its commercial 5G network in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, New York City, Phoenix and Washington, D.C. It’s going to add more markets to the lineup as it continues to expand the 5G network next year.

There will also be additional devices on Sprint’s new 5G network which will be revealed at a later time.
