The animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender was so popular that a live action movie based on the series was released back in 2010. Unfortunately the movie fell far from expectations and was heavily criticized regarding the acting, writing, casting, and its dialogue. However Netflix thinks that maybe it’s time to try again.

The company has announced that they will be launching a live action series for Avatar: The Last Airbender. Don’t expect it to arrive anytime soon as production is only slated to begin in 2019, which means that a release in 2019 will be the earliest, although 2020 does seem like it would be a safer bet.

For those worried that it might be a repeat of the movie, there’s a good chance it might not. This is because the series will see the animated show’s creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko serve as executive producers, meaning that at the very least hopefully their presence and involvement will help steer the series in the right direction.

There is no word on how many episodes we might be able to expect from it or how many seasons there will be. However if you loved the animated series, then hopefully this live action will do it justice.
