McLaren is well regarded for its high-performance vehicles and the company has now unveiled a new supercar that costs an eye-watering $2.25 million. There’s a lot that buyers get for that insane amount of money, though, including a top speed of 250 miles per hour. This hybrid supercar focuses on being extremely aerodynamic with a touch of modern technology and classic McLaren racing DNA.

McLaren Speedtail has a top speed of 250 miles per hour and reports suggest that it can go from 0 to 186 miles per hour in just 12.8 seconds. If the figures are accurate then the car would be almost four seconds faster to this milestone then the McLaren P1.

There’s a touch of the famous McLaren F1 about this vehicle as the driver sits in the center with two passenger seats on either side. There’s a bank of touchscreens for all of the essential information and controls. The car doesn’t have conventional side-mirrors. It has displays on the inside that relay a live feed from the retractable side cameras.

One of the reasons why McLaren went for this is because they’re smaller than conventional side-mirrors so they create less drag. Everything about this car is focused on being as aerodynamic as possible so that the Speedtail can slip through the air without much resistance.

“As our first ‘Hyper-GT,’ the Speedtail is the ultimate McLaren road car; a fusion of art and science that combines an astonishing maximum speed with an iconic central-driving position and a truly pioneering approach to bespoke personalization,” said McLaren Automotive CEO Mike Flewitt.

The Speedtail will be hard to come by as McLaren is only going to make 106 units and all of them have already been booked even though they cost around $2.25 million and even higher depending on any bespoke customization for the owner. McLaren expects to deliver the cars by 2020.
