mclaren-p1tmLast week there were rumors that Apple could be considering buying up McLaren to aid their electric car plans, but McLaren has since shut those rumors down. However following the quashing of the rumors, the company shortly after announced their first electric car: the McLaren P1TM, a model inspired by its P1 hypercar.

By now and judging by the photos, you’ll probably have realized that the P1TM is not an electric supercar, but rather an electric toy car meant for your kids, or maybe adults who are kids at heart, but we sincerely doubt that most of you guys could fit into it. The car has been designed for kids aged 3-6 and will be able to move at a top speed of 3mph, so parents might want to keep an eye on their kids.

According to McLaren’s description, “Firstly, it has a central driving position, just like the iconic McLaren F1.  Then secondly, the young will be able to experience what adults never could: an open-top McLaren P1.  Yet cleverly the design still retains McLaren’s signature dihedral doors.  And like every McLaren, its acceleration is startling.  The zero to maximum speed dash takes just two seconds.”

Unfortunately just like McLaren’s actual cars, the P1TM does not come cheap, at least not as far as toy cars are concerned as it will set parents back £375, which is approximately $486 after conversion. However given that some of us will never get the chance to own an actual McLaren, perhaps this could be the next closest thing.
