Soon after Apple confirmed that it’s going to conduct an event on October 30th, OnePlus announced that it has changed the OnePlus 6T launch date. Apple’s event is presumably about new iPads but that being said, whatever it launches on that day will dominate the tech news cycle. OnePlus doesn’t want its next flagship smartphone to be under that shadow so it has decided to switch up the OnePlus 6T launch date.

OnePlus had confirmed the launch date for its next smartphone on October 8th. We had all been looking forward to the announcement on October 30th but since Apple will hold its event that day, OnePlus has decided to unveil the OnePlus 6T on October 29th.

“We know the entire industry and all media will be holding their breath,” OnePlus said, justifying its decision to change the launch date. The company says that after considerable deliberation with its press contacts it was ascertained that if it stuck with the original launch date then it would be overshadowed by Apple. “So after deep reflection, we have decided to move the OnePlus 6T Launch Event in New York City to October 29,” it confirms.

OnePlus has offered to cover any costs that those attending its event may have to incur due to the date being changed. Those who own a ticket and will not be able to make it on the 29th will be able to apply for a full refund.
