Sony’s Xperia XZ3 already comes with Android 9 Pie out of the box while the company recently rolled out the much-awaited update for the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact. Sony has now revealed the Android 9 Pie update for some additional devices so that owners who have them can rest assured that they will soon be receiving this major Android OS update.

Sony has confirmed that it’s going to release the Android 9 Pie update for premium-range models within the next few weeks. The Pie update will be out for the XZ Premium, XZ1, and XZ1 Compact from October 26th. Xperia XZ2 Premium owners will get Pie on November 7th.

It’s going to be a slightly longer wait for the XZ2, XA2 Ultra, and XA2 Plus owners. Sony is going to release the update for these devices from March 4th, 2019. It’s good that the company is providing concrete release dates and there’s no reason to believe why it may not be able to stick to them.

Most Android manufacturers just opt for vague timelines when they’re asked about the roadmap for a major update. Sony is going the extra mile by announcing precise release dates. This will end the waiting game for those who pick up its devices as they now know when they can expect Pie to arrive on their devices.
