Samsung revealed the four new kinds of display technologies it has been working on at its recent developers’ conference. The Infinity-O display is one such technology. It places the front camera in a hole that’s drilled in the display area itself and thus eliminates the need for a notch. It’s unclear when Samsung will use this panel for a smartphone but recent reports have suggested that Huawei has a similar device in the pipeline. An alleged poster has leaked online today which claims Huawei will launch this device next month.

The display hole technology hasn’t been used on smartphones before. It allows companies to stretch the display even further since they don’t need to use a notch for the camera. What they do instead is essentially punch a hole in the active display area where the camera will be housed.

The alleged Huawei poster hypes up “One Step Further” and “See the Future” while mentioning December 2018 at the bottom. If it’s accurate, this is a big indication that the device with this display technology could be announced as early as next month.

It would mean that Huawei will be able to beat Samsung to market with this technology. Samsung’s Galaxy A8s is rumored to be the first device with its Infinity-O display. Recent reports have suggested that it may not be released before early next year.
