Volvo launched its car subscription service not too long ago. It predicted that the Care by Volvo service will be well received and it appears that the prediction was accurate. In merely four months after the service’s launch, Volvo has sold as many subscriptions as it initially believed it would sell in the service’s first year.

Care by Volvo was priced at $600 per month initially and delivered a $35,000 XC40 to subscribers. The price also includes maintenance, insurance, 24/7 concierge, and roadside assistance. It has since been raised by $50 but that hasn’t deterred customers. Those who are willing to pay a bit more can get the 2019 S60 T6 R-Design sedan for $850 per month.

The success of this service has led to a waitlist for the XC40 crossover. This means that those who sign up for Care by Volvo now will not immediately receive their vehicle. They will be put on a waitlist that stretches well into 2019.

This means it’s not only difficult to get the car through this service but also through a more traditional method like just going to a dealership to pick one up. The popularity of the service has even resulted in Volvo pinching supplies of the XC40 to dealerships in order to meet demand.
