Apart from being known for their laptops, GPUs, and routers, ASUS also dabbles in smartphones. However there was some concern expressed by some when it was revealed that the company’s CEO Jerry Shen would be stepping down, and when they detailed their “mobile transformation plan” which seemed to focus on gaming and power users.

This led some to wonder about the future of the ZenFone series, but thankfully if you are a fan of the ZenFone series, it seems that the lineup won’t be going anywhere. In a statement made to Gadgets 360, ASUS said, “With regard to doubts raised by some on the continuation of the ZenFone brand, we confirm that we will continue to develop the ZenFone series, while also aiming to expand the gaming smartphone market. We will focus on perfecting solutions for gamers and power users.”

Prior to this, ASUS’ smartphone efforts came mostly in the form of the ZenFone series, but the company expanded their offerings when they announced the ASUS ROG Phone, a smartphone designed for gaming (presumably inspired by the likes of the Razer Phone). The initial report of Shen’s stepping down in his role as CEO suggested that the company might focus purely on the ROG phones and neglect the ZenFone lineup, but as the statement has confirmed, that will not be the case.
