There have been quite a few rumors recently that Rocksteady Games, the developer of the popular Batman Arkham series, is working on a new Superman game. Many expected an announcement next week at The Game Awards where 10 new titles are expected to be unveiled. The studio has broken its silence on this matter only to confirm that it does not have a Superman game in development.

There has been some speculation recently that a new Superman game might be announced during The Game Awards next week. The studio has now confirmed that the title won’t be announced next week at the awards because one isn’t being produced to begin with.

Sefton Hill, game director at Rocksteady, set the record straight on Twitter. “Looking forward to #TheGameAwards this year! We’re still hard at work in our development bunker so don’t expect an announcement from @Rocksteadygames. When it’s ready to show, you’ll be the first to know. Spoiler: it’s not Superman,” he wrote. Job listings at Rocksteady spotted earlier this year revealed that the studio is working on a new Triple-A game.

This doesn’t mean that Superman can’t be present in the new game that the studio is working on. What it essentially confirms instead is that the game itself won’t be a dedicated Superman title as the speculation has had some people believe.
