It’s no secret that Amazon’s Fire TV streaming devices are popular, but just how popular? If the latest figures from Amazon are anything to go by, these streaming devices might be in a league of their own. Amazon has said that Fire TV has 30 million active users. It’s ahead of Roku which estimated earlier this week that it has 27 million active users.

Amazon’s Fire TV boss Marc Whitten told CNET in an interview that these streaming products now have “well over” 30 million active users. “We’re still in the middle of the ‘buy’ to ‘turn on’ period” from the holiday shopping season,” he added, which means that the number is certainly going to increase.

Amazon’s Fire TV devices were quite popular items during the holiday season and the company sold an incredible number of devices. Amazon had previously disclosed in October 2018 that Fire TV had 25 million active users. This suggests that it has seen a growth of 5 million new accounts in just three months. That’s impressive.

Whitten mentioned that Amazon will be growing its Fire TV business in 2019 by expanding international partners but didn’t provide any specifics on it. He also mentioned that Amazon is “very happy” with the sales of Fire TV Edition smart TVs. They come with an integrated Fire TV so there’s no need for an additional streaming device.
