Apple’s $29 iPhone battery replacement program came to an end at the end of last year, which means that customers who want to change their iPhone batteries will need to pay full price. However if you don’t mind a little DIY and want to save yourself some money, not to worry because it looks like iFixit has you covered.

The company has announced that through 2019, they will continue to offer their iPhone battery replacement kits at $30. iFixit had previously lowered the price of their battery kit to match Apple’s pricing, but unlike Apple, they will continue to offer it throughout 2019. However like we said, this is a DIY kit which means that you’ll need to do the replacement yourself.

This can be a bit daunting but iFixit will provide you with the tools you’ll need to swap out your battery for a new one. iFixit is also boasting that their kits will cover even older iPhones like the iPhone 4S, 5, 5s and 5c which were covered by Apple’s battery replacement program. If you’re still hesitating on whether you should buy a new iPhone, maybe spending $30 could be enough to squeeze an extra year out of your device.

It probably isn’t doing Apple any favors as the company’s CEO Tim Cook had recently admitted that the $29 battery replacement program could have affected users’ inclination to upgrade.
