In the mirrorless camera market, there are a few brands that are currently dominating, such as Sony and Fujifilm. Recently we’ve seen how companies such as Nikon and Canon have tossed their hat into the ring by creating more powerful mirrorless cameras, and it seems that Olympus isn’t going to sit around and let that happen without doing anything about it.

The company has recently posted a teaser video for an event/announcement that will be taking place on the 24th of January, 2019. Exactly what will be announced is unclear, but it appears to be part of the company’s mirrorless OM-D lineup. There are a lot of sporting and action shots in the video, especially with one near a pool, which hints that either this camera will be fast to capture such moments, or it could be water-resistant, or maybe even both.

There are many questions that photographers probably have, one of which we imagine is whether or not the camera will be a full-frame camera. That’s the angle that Nikon and Canon have approached the market at, with full-frame mirrorless cameras that were designed to take on the likes of Sony, who for the longest time dominated that particular market segment, what with Fujifilm opting to sit out of full-frame mirrorless cameras.

Either way we should have the details on the 24th of January, 2019, and maybe even a bit earlier as Olympus could continue to drop bits and pieces of information ahead of the official reveal.
