Spotify may be one of the most popular music streaming services across the globe but it doesn’t currently offer a feature that Pandora does on the Apple Watch. The latest iOS update for the latter has brought support for offline playback on Apple’s smartwatch. This is a feature that was frequently requested by Pandora users so the company has granted their wishes.

There is a caveat, though. This feature isn’t open to any and all Pandora users. It will only be offered to those who are either paying for a $5 per month Pandora Plus or $10 per month Pandora Premium subscription. Only these subscribers will have access to the offline playback functionality on Pandora for Apple Watch.

Back when Spotify’s Apple Watch app was launched, the streaming giant had promised that it would add support for offline listening, but that feature is yet to arrive. Pandora has been able to bring this feature out for its users before Spotify.

Apple’s watchOS 5 is another pre-requisite for this feature. Offline playback will only be available on Apple Watch models that are running this particular software version. The watches that are not on this version will, therefore, require an update first if they’re eligible to receive watchOS 5.
