#CES2019 – We’ve seen Amazon’s Alexa digital assistant integrated into many things, such as speakers, headphones, cars, TVs, smartphones, and so on. However it seems that Alexa has found a new home in a gadget that not many of us might necessarily think of – and that is a musical keyboard.

Roland has recently taken the wraps off a new version of its GO:PIANO where it will come with Alexa built into it. According to Roland, the idea behind integrating Alexa is that it will allow users to access some of the keyboard’s functions using just their voice, plus we imagine that it might also come in handy if you need to set reminders, control certain home appliances, and so on.

The use of Alexa also gives musicians access to libraries of music so that they can play along to them if they want. There will also be a sharing feature that will let users share their recordings with their friends and family. It sounds like it is a good idea on paper, but whether or not musicians might actually have a use for Alexa built into their pianos remains to be seen.

That being said, Roland has yet to mention how much the GO:PIANO with Alexa will cost or when it will be released, but it is slated for some time this fall.
