Managing your open tabs on a desktop browser such as Chrome is pretty easy. Due to the fact that our laptops and desktops usually have much bigger displays, the extra screen real estate allows us to view tabs easily. This is, unfortunately, a different experience on mobile where trying to switch between tabs can be a bit tricky and inelegant.

However, it seems that Google is testing out a way that will make navigating tabs on its Chrome mobile browser a bit easier. According to a report from XDA Developers, they have found that Google is testing a new way for users to better manage and navigate their tabs on Chrome on their phones, and this is done by creating a toolbar placed at the bottom of the app where all the open tabs are displayed.

As you can see in the screenshots above, this will let users tab on the website’s individual icons to switch between their open tabs. Users can also tap the up arrow icon which will display all open tabs in a grid layout with previews of the sites, so in case users aren’t familiar with the icon they will still be able to see what sites are open.

Unfortunately, unlike other Chrome experimental features that can be enabled manually by going to the chrome://flags page, this isn’t available yet. However, we imagine that it should so do keep an eye out for it.
