Samsung Electronics may face intense competition from the likes of Apple and Huawei but several of the conglomerate’s affiliates conduct business with these companies as well. Samsung Display supplied OLED panels to Apple for the iPhone X and it’s now claimed that the company has inked a similar deal with Huawei. It’s apparently supplying OLED panels for the Huawei P30 Pro, the Chinese telecommunication giant’s next flagship smartphone.

Samsung has a dominant position in the mobile OLED market. Not only can it make quality panels but it also has the capability to produce the panels at scale in order to meet the customer’s demand. That’s one of the reasons why Apple had to partner up with Samsung as well. Such deals between companies are rarely ever acknowledged by them in public so it’s safe to say that there’s no official comment on the matter from either Samsung or Huawei.

The rumor about Samsung Display not only supplying OLED panels but being the sole supplier of panels for the Huawei P30 Pro stems from a Weibo post which claims to have inside information. Huawei is said to have signed a deal with Samsung for the panels.

It’s said to have previously sourced panels from BOE, a Chinese company, and LG. Samsung Display’s mobile OLED panels have consistently edged out products from its competitors so it’s that superior quality that may have convinced Huawei to make the switch.
