Huawei fans have been looking forward to the company’s upcoming flagship P30 series which will be unveiled on March 26th at an event in Paris. There have been a few rumors about this series already and now the company has dropped a bit of information about the P30 Pro, the top-tier model of the new series. As expected, the P30 Pro will have a “periscope” zoom camera.

AndroidCentral hears from Huawei’s VP of Global Product Marketing Clement Wong that the P30 Pro will feature a periscope-style zoom camera which will allow for “super-zoom” on the device. Wong didn’t reveal the precise zoom level but it will most likely be more than the P20 Pro’s 2X optical and 5X hybrid zoom.

It appears that Huawei will be doing something unique with the camera setup on this device. Wong added that the camera on the P30 Pro will have “something nobody (has done) before.” This leads to assumptions that perhaps it may have a powered, mechanical zoom lens. Huawei hasn’t hinted about such a setup at this point in time so this remains speculation for now. When it does arrive, we’ll be sure to put it through its paces and give it a comprehensive UG camera score.

There will also be improvements for low-light performance which was pretty good on the P20 Pro. Wong again didn’t go into specifics but said that the next-generation camera will deliver a major upgrade in this department as well. All of this just makes the wait for March 26th that much harder for Huawei fans.
