Take-Two is a company that some gamers might be familiar with. For those who aren’t, they are the publisher and parent company behind other developer studios such as 2K Games and Rockstar. Now it seems that there is a chance that Take-Two could be acquired by none other than Sony.

This is according to a report from Market Watch (via Game Informer) who claims that Sony is currently in negotiations to take over Take-Two. Details about the acquisition are scarce and all the publication had to say is that Sony is in “advanced board level discussions to acquire Take-Two Interactive in a mostly cash deal.”

It is unclear as to how true these rumors are as neither Sony nor Take-Two have come forward to acknowledge anything so it’s probably best to take it with a grain of salt for now. However the implications are huge if they are true as it would bring rather huge franchises, such as Grand Theft Auto, essentially under Sony’s roof where they may or may not decide to make future titles exclusive to the PlayStation platform.

This is also not the first time that Take-Two has been offered to be acquired. As pointed out by Game Informer, several years ago EA offered to acquired Take-Two, but apparently the money offered by EA wasn’t enough to sway the company, so it remains to be seen if Sony will have much luck.
