One of the cheapest Amazon Echo speakers available was the Echo Dot. We say  “was” because during Amazon’s hardware event today, the company took the wraps off a new product called the Echo Flex, which is basically a plug-in smart speaker that lets you install Alexa in virtually every room.

Priced at $25, clearly Amazon is hoping that customers will buy more than a few of them. These are plug-in speakers meaning that they connect directly to a wall outlet, so if you have an available wall outlet, just plug it in and you’re good to go. This makes it a lot more flexible for use where it could be installed in the garage, bathroom, kitchen, and so on.

It will also come with Alexa built into it, so all the features you might expect from Alexa you should be able to access with the Echo Flex. Granted based on its size, it might not necessarily be the best set of speakers, but we don’t think that was the intention here. Amazon also claims that the Echo Flex comes with a USB port which means that you can use it to charge your mobile device as well, or add additional accessories like a night light.
