If you’ve ever been to the movies, there is a very good chance that you have heard THX’s very iconic “Deep Note” intro. It’s impossible to miss. However, the animation accompanying the audio is rather basic, but then again, we suppose the audio, not the animation, was kind of the whole point.

Fast forward to today, it seems that THX has decided that now might be a good time to give its trailer a makeover where together with creative studio American Meme, they have released a new and modern trailer. The audio remains the same, but the trailer has been designed to take you on an audio journey, and if you have a pair of headphones, you’ll find the entire experience rather trippy.

For those who are interested in seeing how all of this came together, THX has also released a behind-the-scenes video (see below) with American Meme where they talk through the entire process of how it all came together. In case you’re not familiar with “Deep Note”, the sound was created through a computer-generated glissando.

It throws together several octaves of varying pitches where it eventually resolves at the end, coming together in perfect harmony where sometimes you might even feel your seats rumble. If you have a few minutes to spare and a pair of headphones, the 2019 version might be worth checking out.
