It is the shopping season with Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals across the Internet for gadgets and online services.

You also get a bunch of great deals for smart TVs just in time before Christmas – which should be a good time for purchases.

We do not have a problem with that – however, the FBI decided to put a warning on their official website for the consumers to know about the security risks associated with Smart TVs nowadays.

Of course, they do not discourage you from the deals but they mention that there are some security concerns that you should keep an eye out for on your Smart TVs.

With the increase in applications (and streaming services) for Smart TVs, it is also a new target for attackers.

They might compromise the security of your Smart TV to get access to your router or maybe listen to you or watch you if there is a microphone/video camera on the TV.

So, they highlight multiple reasons why you should be concerned about the security of your Smart TVs just like you do for your smartphone. And, it is indeed a good message from the FBI.
