The world around us is constantly evolving and changing and everyday, there are new things to talk about. Twitter actually does a good job of highlighting those changes with its trending topics feature, which basically highlights certain keywords that happen to be trending at the moment.

However, we imagine that those who don’t use Twitter or who rarely use the social media platform might not necessarily be familiar with the concept of these trending topics, especially when they don’t have much context to them, but that’s something Twitter wants to change. The company has recently announced that they will be making changes where these trending topics will be explained and have context added to them with pinned tweets.

According to the company, “Starting today, some trends will have a representative Tweet pinned to them to give you more insight about a trend right away. A combination of algorithms and our curation team determine if a Tweet represents a trend by evaluating if the Tweet is very reflective of the trend and popular.”

Presumably this is a move to help make Twitter more user-friendly so that people who aren’t used to the platform will understand it better, and will hopefully get them to spend more time on the website and use their services.
