Back in the day, Mophie’s battery cases were limited to specific smartphone models. Given the various shapes and sizes of smartphones, it would be impossible for the company to create a battery case for each and every model available out there, but the company thinks that they might have solved that problem.

This comes in the form of the new Mophie Juice Pack Connect that should pretty much work with any smartphone. As you can see in the video above, the Juice Pack Connect is kind of like a modular battery attachment. It can be attached or removed from a smartphone’s case using an anchor that sticks to the phone or the case of the phone.

When not in use, the anchor can also double as a kickstand for the phone in question, meaning that it won’t be completely useless. However, when users need that extra boost in battery, they just need to slide in the Juice Pack Connect and it will start to charge their mobile device through wireless charging.

Given that it is wireless, it means that unlike battery cases of old, users won’t need to worry about it taking up the Lightning or USB-C port on their device. It would have been more interesting if the device supported Apple’s MagSafe, but we suppose that kind of defeats the purpose of making it universally compatible. The Mophie Juice Pack Connect is priced at $80 and you should be able to get your hand on one through Zagg’s website.
