If the rumors are to be believed, Apple is expected to be heavily investing in mini LED technology. In fact, the rumors are claiming that this year, we can look forward to Apple possibly launching an iPad Pro with a mini LED display, so it shouldn’t really come as a surprise that Apple could extend the technology to their laptops.

A recent report from DigiTimes is claiming that as far as Apple’s laptops are concerned, we can expect the MacBook Air to use mini LEDs in 2022. What’s interesting about this is that the MacBook Air won’t be the first MacBook to use the tech. The report says that Apple’s 16-inch MacBook Pro will be the first and that refresh will come later this year.

This is based on earlier rumors that claim that Apple will be redesigning the MacBook Pro this year, and that one of the new features will be a mini LED display. Whether or not the rumors hold true remains to be seen, but it could be something to look forward to if you feel that the current MacBook displays aren’t good enough.

Mini LED technology is supposed to be like an in-between of LCD and LED, where it will take the advantages of both technologies, such as being cheaper to produce and also offering up similar levels of brightness, improved contrast, and richer colors that one might expect from LEDs.
