Right now Netflix is pretty much sitting at the top of the list when it comes to streaming. Despite being late to the party, Disney+ is actually doing pretty well for itself and seems to be rising rapidly, but could it rise fast enough where it might eventually overtake Netflix? Turns out that some think that is a possibility, a possibility that could occur in the next 5 years.

This is according to a report from Digital TV Research who predicts that based on the data they have, they expect that  Disney+ will be able to overtake Netflix by 2026. The report claims that in 2026, Disney+ is expected to have 294 million subscribers, while Netflix will have 286 million, which is actually an incredibly close call assuming the numbers are accurate.

At the moment, Netflix has over 200 million subscribers, while Disney+ has a little over 90 million. However, it should be noted that Disney+’s availability is still somewhat limited compared to Netflix. Disney+ is currently only available in a handful of countries, whereas Netflix has since expanded to pretty much almost the entire world.

This is why it isn’t surprising to think that once Disney+ becomes more widely available, it should have no problem overtaking Netflix, especially with various strong performing franchises under its belt.
