It’s no secret that official accessories tend to be priced much higher than third-party alternatives, but there is a certain peace of mind and almost a guarantee of sorts that it will work as intended. This is versus third-party unofficial accessories that might be cheap but might end up spoiling your device.

That being said, there are some who sell counterfeit products in which they bear the company’s brand but they aren’t actually real. Apple is facing such a problem with regards to iPhone accessories and now according to a report from Bloomberg, the company actually has a dedicated team that will scour social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram and try to have these listings taken down.

According to Apple, “We have a dedicated team of experts constantly working with law enforcement, merchants, social media companies and e-commerce sites around the world to remove counterfeit products from the market. In the last year we have sought the removal of over 1 million listings for counterfeit and fake Apple products from online marketplaces, including Facebook and Instagram.”

We doubt that this is a battle that can be won because as long as Apple prices their products too high, there will always be sellers who will offer up cheaper alternatives, but hopefully it will lessen their visibility and prevent unwanted accidents in the future.
