Last week, Discord announced that iOS users would no longer be able to access NSFW servers on their mobile devices through the app. It was suggested that this was due to Apple’s App Store policy that says that apps that contain certain types of content could be removed from the App Store.

However, it seems that Discord has since had a change of heart where according to their updated guidelines, the ban now only applies to servers that specifically focus on pornographic content. This means that a server could have NSFW content, but as long as it is not pornographic in nature, it is fine.

When asked for a statement, the company told Gizmodo, “Our goal is always to keep Discord safe, especially for our younger users. Last week, we introduced additional controls to ensure minors will not be exposed to content that is inappropriate for them per App Store guidelines. We realize the community had many questions, and we wanted to clarify our position and which servers will or will not be affected.”

That being said, some have pointed out that apps such as Reddit allow NSFW content by giving users the option of toggling it on via the website. Some have suggested that Discord could implement the same thing for its own services as a workaround, but it is unclear why they are not going down that route.
