Obviously Facebook would love it if you stuck around using its network, but in case you do decide to leave the social network and want to save all your posts and notes for posterity, then you might be pleased to learn that Facebook has since introduced a new tool that makes it easier for you to export your notes and posts to a third-party service like Google Docs.

According to Facebook, “To give people more control and choice over their data, today we’re introducing two new data portability types, Facebook posts and notes. People can now directly transfer their notes and posts to Google Docs, Blogger and WordPress.com.”

They add, “We designed this tool with privacy, security and utility in mind. We’ll ask you to re-enter your password before the transfer starts and encrypt your data as it moves between services, so you can be confident it will be transferred securely.” Facebook already allows users to export and download certain types of information about yourself and your account, so this is an expansion of that.

The company has also allowed users to export their photos to other platforms like Google Photos. So if you plan to leave Facebook or maybe just keep your own backup, then this new tool will make it easier for you.
