Apple’s base iPhone 12 models have a pretty colorful lineup to choose from, but it looks like they might have gotten just a bit more colorful. This is because at Apple’s Spring Loaded event, the company surprised everyone by announcing a new purple finish for both the iPhone 12 mini and the iPhone 12.

Note that this color option is only for the two models, and that the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max models remain unchanged in their finish options. Apart from the new paint job, the rest of the phone remains the same as the other models. This means that we’re looking at the use of the A14 Bionic chipset, the same dual camera setup, and more.

In the case of the iPhone 12 mini, it will come with a smaller 5.4-inch display while the iPhone 12 will sport a larger 6.1-inch display, but apart from the difference in the size, both phones are almost identical. That being said, we have to admit we are a bit surprised at the new color option for the iPhone 12 mini.

This is because there have been reports suggesting that the iPhone 12 mini is not doing as well as Apple would have liked, so it’s strange that they would invest resources into a new color for a model that isn’t selling so well. In any case, for those who are interested, pre-orders for the purple model kick off on the 23rd of April via Apple’s website.
