Last year due to the fact that the pandemic continued to rage on, Blizzard, like many other companies, decided to cancel its BlizzCon event. Instead, the company opted to host the event virtually which took place earlier this year as BlizzConline. If you were hoping to see them return to in-person events this year, you will be disappointed to learn that will not be happening.

Blizzard has announced that they have decided to cancel this year’s BlizzCon event as well. According to the company, “Building an in-person BlizzCon is an epic and complex affair that takes many months of preparation—not just for us, but also for the many talented production partners, esports pros, hosts, entertainers, artists, and other collaborators we team up with locally and globally to put all of the pieces together.”

They add, “The ongoing complexities and uncertainties of the pandemic have impacted our ability to properly move forward on many of these fronts, and ultimately we’re now past the point where we’d be able to develop the kind of event we’d want to create for you in November.” The good news is that BlizzConline will continue to live on and will take place in the early part of 2022.

It is a bit of a bummer but hopefully things will be better in 2022 and we will see the event come back, but having BlizzConline isn’t such a bad alternative either.
