Apple Reportedly Hires Meta’s AR Comms Lead For Its Upcoming Wearable Launch

When it comes to virtual reality, Facebook is no stranger on that front with its Oculus offerings. In fact, the company rebranded itself to Meta not too long ago as a way to signal the company’s plans for the future where they could build its own metaverse.

That being said, it seems that Apple has managed to convince one of Meta’s execs to join the Cupertino company. This is according to the latest issue of Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter where he revealed that Apple had hired Meta’s augmented reality communications lead, Andrea Schubert.

While it’s not 100% confirmed what Schubert will be doing at Apple, the fact that she had a role in Meta’s augmented reality department suggests that she will be playing a similar role at Apple. There have been rumors that Apple is getting ready to announce their own mixed reality headset that could debut as soon as next year.

It has actually been rumored for years that Apple could be developing their own mixed reality headset, and that one day we might even see Apple attempt augmented reality glasses, which some believe could ultimately replace the iPhone one day. It will be quite a challenge for Apple because other companies like Google have attempted similar devices in the past, only to fail, so it will be interesting to see if Apple can succeed where Google had failed.
