Google’s Nest division has announced that it will stop supporting three of its home security products: Nest Secure, Dropcam, and Works with Nest. These products will no longer be accessible via the Nest app after their respective cutoff dates.  The company will stop supporting Nest Secure starting on April 8, 2024, and Dropcam on the same date. However, all current features will remain available until these dates.

For Nest Secure users, Google is offering an exclusive offer for a self-setup system from ADT (up to $485 value) or $200 to use on the Google Store. For Nest Aware subscribers, the company is offering a Nest Cam (indoor, wired) to help them keep their homes secure. Those not subscribed will receive a 50% discount toward a new Nest Cam (indoor, wired).

As for the “Works with Nest”, a program created in 2014 for smart home devices from other manufacturers to personalize experiences, it will officially end on September 29, 2023. Until that date, all current Works with Nest connections will remain active, but they will no longer work after the cutoff date. Nest users will lose access to those connections. The company is working to provide replacement integrations where possible.

The announcement ends with a note from the Nest team apologizing for the inconvenience these changes may cause, expressing hope that upgrades will ease the transition, and offering support via a dedicated phone number and support agents.
