Xiaomi’s premium audio lineup has been expanded with the introduction of the Xiaomi Sound 2 Pro, a new speaker that is intended to provide high-fidelity sound in a more compact and cost-effective form. The model has a similar look to the bigger Xiaomi Sound 2 Max, but it’s aimed at people who want a smart speaker that’s not as big or expensive as flagship models.
In China, the Xiaomi Sound 2 Pro was released at a price of 1,399 CNY (approximately $195). The speaker positions itself as a connected home hub powered by Xiaomi HyperOS in addition to being an audio device by fusing contemporary design with smart home functionality.
It looks like it was inspired by the Bauhaus movement, with its focus on simplicity and straight lines. Unlike the Sound 2 Max, which features a metal casing, the Sound 2 Pro uses high-quality plastic with a metallic paint finish. Additionally, Xiaomi incorporates detachable magnetic ornamental panels, enabling users to alter the speaker’s look to accommodate various interior design styles or room aesthetics.
The Xiaomi Sound 2 Pro’s performance is based on a two-way crossover system that has a 60W total output. The 40W subwoofer and 20W tweeter in the setup are intended to balance clear high frequencies with deeper bass. Additionally, Xiaomi restores features like sound field reconstruction and spatial audio calibration, which use algorithms to modify playback according to the acoustics of a room. These tools are made to make listening more immersive in various settings.
The Xiaomi Sound 2 Pro is positioned as a smart home control device in addition to music. It has Bluetooth 5.2 and Xiaomi Mesh 2.0 built in, so it can be used as a hub for all Xiaomi HyperConnect-connected devices. With support for Super AI, the speaker should be able to handle voice interactions and more complex commands, such as asking about the weather or controlling Xiaomi products that are compatible.
The Xiaomi Sound 2 Pro has been officially confirmed for the Chinese market, and there is no official global release at this time. Often, similar Xiaomi audio products come to other countries later under the standard Xiaomi Sound brand.
