REDMAGIC’s Astra 2 Gaming Tablet Goes Global: Specs And Price

The REDMAGIC Astra 2 has been officially launched in the global market. Acting as the international counterpart to the RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro previously released in China, this new device targets the high-end mobile gaming sector with several specialized hardware features.

A prominent design element of the Astra 2 is its AquaCore 2.0 liquid cooling system, which utilizes visible liquid metal dissipation visible through a transparent rear panel. Internally, the tablet is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with a dedicated RedCore R4 gaming chip. To ensure high performance during extended gaming sessions, the device offers configurations with up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of high-speed UFS 4.1 Pro storage.

Display specifications feature a 9.06-inch OLED panel with a 2.4K resolution (2400 x 1504 pixels). The screen supports a 185 Hz refresh rate, a 300 Hz touch sampling rate, and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. Audio is handled by a stereo speaker configuration equipped with DTS Ultra processing, while biometric authentication is managed via a side-mounted fingerprint reader. Additionally, the device integrates a dual 4D vibration system.

Power is supplied by an 8,300 mAh battery that supports 75W fast charging. Notably, the tablet features a charge bypass function, routing power directly to the chipset to minimize heat generation and battery degradation during simultaneous charging and gameplay. The tablet also includes a secondary USB-C port for external accessories.

The camera system consists of a 13 MP rear sensor and a 9 MP front-facing camera. Operating on Android 16 with the RedMagic OS 11.5 interface, the tablet includes customizable rear RGB lighting and a programmable physical button.

Global pre-orders are scheduled to begin in mid-August 2026, with full availability expected by the end of the month. The 12 GB + 256 GB model is priced at $699, while the 16 GB + 512 GB configuration is positioned at $799.
