Microsoft has released update KB5101681 for Windows 11 version 26H1, bringing the operating system to build 28000.2608. The optional update introduces several system improvements, bug fixes, and feature enhancements designed to optimize user experience and backend stability.

Key visual and interface corrections address issues with taskbar icon rendering, File Explorer home screen behavior during OneDrive synchronization, and desktop switching animations. Additionally, Microsoft resolved acrylic blur rendering bugs across the Start Menu, Settings app, and Lock Screen, alongside fixing Start Menu responsiveness when aligned to the left side of the screen. Group policy reliability for the Start Menu has been improved, and the Background Intelligent Transfer Service now terminates faster during system shutdowns.

Stability updates extend to system hardware and driver interactions. The build eliminates login issues when using third-party credentials, enhances integrated HD Audio driver reliability, corrects color profile behavior, and fixes application scrolling issues on multi-monitor setups. Windows Update now includes an Update Pause Calendar, while Widget functionality has been updated. Location settings options will no longer appear when corresponding location services are turned off.

Input features received significant upgrades. Voice typing now supports French, German, and Spanish, featuring real-time grammar and punctuation corrections alongside improved speech recognition in noisy environments. Touchpad settings now allow users to customize the size of the right-click zones, and Japanese handwriting recognition has been refined for inputting English characters.

On the technical and enterprise side, build 28000.2608 enhances the performance of Confidential Virtual Machines and addresses bugs within Hyper-V. The update reduces Wi-Fi-related Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) errors, improves compatibility with third-party Virtual Private Network (VPN) applications, simplifies printer installation procedures, and expands native support for running larger local artificial intelligence models.
