Konami, in partnership with Annapurna Interactive and Screen Burn Interactive, has unveiled a 19-minute gameplay showcase for Silent Hill: Townfall, marking the franchise’s first installment set in Europe. The preview highlights the title’s first-person exploration, puzzle-solving mechanics, and psychological tension, continuing the publisher’s ongoing revival of the classic survival horror franchise.

The narrative follows protagonist Simon Ordell as he arrives on the isolated, mist-shrouded island of St. Amelia. Rather than relying on fast-paced action, the gameplay emphasizes environmental awareness, atmospheric dread, and careful navigation. The sound design plays a critical role in establishing tension, utilizing electromagnetic distortions, metallic noises, and dissonant acoustic landscapes to signal danger without heavily leaning on series veteran Akira Yamaoka.

A core gameplay feature is the CRTV, a portable monitor and radio transceiver that serves as both a navigational compass and a tactical survival device. As Simon searches for the apartment of Zoe Ellis, the device provides directional clues to help solve logical and mechanical puzzles, such as activating a fuse box with a prepaid power card or unlocking a code-secured organ donation safe.

In hostile encounters, the CRTV detects hidden threats through visual screen interference, outlining monster silhouettes through walls to facilitate stealth routes. When evasion fails, direct combat remains grounded and desperate, relying on crude melee tools like wooden planks. Players can also manipulate the environment by locking doors to trap hostile entities or turning on radios to create white noise distractions.
