OpenAI has officially launched its newest artificial intelligence model, GPT-6.1 Terra, bringing high performance and reduced operational expenses to paid and enterprise subscribers through ChatGPT Work and Codex.

The newly introduced GPT-6.1 Terra model delivers capabilities comparable to the existing GPT-6.1 Sol while approaching the efficiency standards of the Astra variant. Notably, it achieves these performance benchmarks at roughly half the operational cost of the Sol architecture. Furthermore, developers and enterprises utilizing the OpenAI API will benefit from a 50% price reduction compared to the previous GPT-5.6 Terra iteration.

In terms of execution speed, GPT-6.1 Terra completes complex, multi-step computer interaction tasks significantly faster than both the Astra and Sol models. OpenAI also highlighted a notable reduction in error rates, showing a substantial decrease in incorrect responses when benchmarked against the earlier GPT-6 Luna model.

Positioned strategically within the company’s product ecosystem, GPT-6.1 Terra serves as a bridge combining the high performance of the Sol line with the cost-effective focus of the Luna series. Access to the new model is available immediately for users subscribed to Plus, Pro, Enterprise, and Edu tiers across both ChatGPT Work and Codex platforms.
