The Power Rangers franchise may soon find a brand new home on Amazon Prime Video following the unfortunate cancellation of its project by Disney. According to recent insider rumors shared across social media platforms, Amazon is currently in active negotiations to take over the development of the highly anticipated upcoming television series. The high-profile production is led by experienced showrunners Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz, who previously spent about eighteen months developing the show with 20th Television before the initiative was abruptly scrapped.

The initial cancellation earlier this year stemmed primarily from excessively high production costs, as the complete lack of archival Japanese footage demanded a substantial and unrealistic budget for custom live-action shooting. Because the production could not rely on traditional tokusatsu source material from Japan, the financial burden placed on the studio became unsustainable for Disney executives.
The beloved franchise itself has officially belonged to Hasbro since its major acquisition of Saban Entertainment back in 2018. Over the years, the brand has explored various streaming and broadcast avenues, including prior unsuccessful efforts alongside Netflix, which also ultimately abandoned plans for a fresh standalone series.
If the current negotiations between Hasbro and Amazon successfully conclude, Prime Video could become the ultimate platform to revitalize the property for both longtime fans and a brand-new generation of viewers. Industry analysts note that Amazon has been aggressively expanding its catalog of major intellectual properties and nerd-culture staples to drive long-term subscriber engagement. However, official confirmation and timeline details regarding the potential partnership remain strictly under wraps as business discussions continue behind closed doors. Fans of the spandex-clad heroes will need to wait a little longer to see if the morphin grid finally activates on Prime Video.
