Back in 2017, Microsoft confirmed that they would be working on a new Age of Empires game. The franchise hasn’t really seen any new titles in recent times, although Microsoft has been trying to keep interest in it renewed by launching remasters of existing titles. This includes the first Age of Empires and at E3 2019, Microsoft also confirmed Age of Empires II would be getting a remaster.
Last year, Microsoft released Age of Empires: Definitive Edition. For those who are unfamiliar, the Definitive Edition version of the game is essentially a remastered Age of Empires, where Microsoft has improved on the game in terms of its graphics where it included higher-resolution textures and also support for 4K.
Age of Empires was one of the early RTS games that was released back in the day and is considered by many to be a classic. As you can imagine the release of Age of Empires: Definitive Edition was probably great news for quite a few gamers, what with all the various improvements made to it.
Initially pegged for a launch in 2017, Microsoft later delayed the release of Age of Empires: Definitive Edition to 2018 where it was set for a 20th of February release. The good news is that if you were looking forward to the game, you’ll be pleased to learn that the game has since been released.
Last year Microsoft announced Age of Empires: Definitive Edition. The game was originally intended for a release in 2017, but in the later part of the year, Microsoft announced that the game would now be delayed until 2018. The good news is that despite the delay, gamers won’t have to wait much longer to play it.
In recent times we’re starting to see more companies release remastered versions of old and classic games, and we’re sure that many gamers were thrilled when earlier this year Microsoft confirmed that Age of Empires would be getting a 4K makeover in the form of Age of Empires: Definitive Edition.
Back in the day, there weren’t that many RTS games around. You had the likes of StarCraft, Warcraft, Red Alert, Command & Conquer, and Age of Empires. Many of those franchises have kind of stalled in recent times, but that’s not the case for Microsoft’s Age of Empires because it seems that gamers can look forward to a fourth installment.
Back in 1997, Microsoft threw their hat into the RTS gaming ring with the launch of the Age of Empires franchise. Granted it isn’t necessarily played at the same frenetic pace compared to titles such as StarCraft, but the game did build up quite a huge following over the years, and now Microsoft is back with another title.
Last year it was announced that Age of Empires: World Domination would be making its way onto mobile devices, but unfortunately that did not happen. However if you are a fan of RTS games, then you might be pleased to learn that Microsoft and KLab Games has officially released the game for both iOS and Android devices. However we should point out that the game’s release for iOS is still a […]
If you have been playing video games from back in the day, you know that one of the more popular RTS games back then was the Age of Empire franchise (competitive StarCraft notwithstanding). That being said if you’re still a fan of the franchise even until today, you might be interested to learn that Age of Empires 2 HD Edition will be getting a new expansion this week.It has been […]
It seems that the good people over at Microsoft as well as Forgotten Empires have a soft spot for the Age Of Empires franchise where it looks as though there is a spanking new Age Of Empires 2: HD expansion pack coming our way. And not a moment too soon, too, especially when you take into consideration how it has been 16 years ever since the original title arrived on […]
Close to the end of last month, we did bring you word that Age of Empires: Castle Siege will be making its way over to two different Microsoft operating systems – one for computers in the form of Windows 8.1, while the other would cater to the portable device platform, and Windows Phone 8.1 ends up as the vehicle of choice, so to speak. Well, we are pleased to say […]
Back in the day when the rest of your mates were playing StarCraft and having the best time of their lives, you joined in on the fun, too, but did not share with them that you have a penchant for Age of Empires from Microsoft. After all, they would have looked at you like you were some sort of social pariah. I will admit that Age of Empires is a […]
We’re sure that gamers at one point in time have tried their hand at Microsoft’s Age of Empires RTS game. The game itself is rather iconic and was one of the more popular RTS games when it was first introduced. Later in 2011, Microsoft introduced Age of Empires Online which was essentially an MMO version of the game. The game retained its RTS-like gameplay, but introduced MMO-like elements, such as having […]
